LIGHTSPEED DESIGN PROVIDES CONSULTING AND DEPTHQ 3D VIDEO TECHNOLOGY TO ROYAL ALEXANDRA HOSPITAL FOR 3D HD BROADCAST, EDMONTON, CANADA

Edmonton, Canada June 24, 2008: Lightspeed Design, Inc. today announced delivery of consulting, system integration services, and its DepthQ® stereoscopic video processing technology for a live HD 3D IP video broadcast of a surgical procedure from Capital Health’s Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton, Canada.

The surgical procedure was broadcast live in HD 3D, from an Operating Room, based on the Intuitive Surgical da Vinci® S HD Surgical System, at the Royal Alexandra Hospital to 500 attendees of an instructional session at the 2008 Canadian Urological Association (CUA) meeting.

The session was hosted by Capital Health's Centre for the Advancement of Minimally Invasive Surgery (CAMIS) and the BEAM Regional Telehealth program, in collaboration with Stryker Canada and Minogue Medical Incorporated.

“Working with Lightspeed Design really took our event to the next level of impact. We have received many positive comments from urologists and others at the Shaw who saw the simultaneous live surgery broadcast. They indicated that this was a very powerful way to compare and contrast the two procedures. The 3-D image of the robotic radical prostatectomy was unbelievable in terms of clarity and image sharpness. The 3-D effect was instrumental in conveying the sense of depth within the human body and allowed a clear delineation of tissues, nerves and vessels. Chris and Kirk were professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly skilled problem solvers and communicators. The event would not have been the success that it was without their involvement and support.” CAMIS Director, Gayle Burnett
